Google Business Profile Booking Links: Check the Customer Journey
Guidance checked on 8 October 2026.
A customer who chooses to book from your business profile should reach a useful next step. An old provider page or the wrong branch can create confusion before an appointment begins. Use this short review when launching a booking page, changing providers or updating a location.
Start with the destination
Google requires local business links to lead to a page dedicated to your business and, for multiple locations, the specific location. The page must allow the named action to be completed. Social media, messaging, app-store and shortened links are not suitable substitutes. Eligibility varies by business and region; the business must be verified. [2]
Add the link in the correct place
Google’s instructions route owners to the relevant transaction type, such as Booking, in Search, or Edit profile and the transaction type in Maps. Choose Add link, enter the destination and save. [1]
Before saving, our recommendation is to open the exact address you copied. Check the branch name, service and contact details. Do not assume that a provider’s homepage and your own appointment page lead to the same place.
Choose a preferred destination
If several links appear, Google lets you select a preferred link through the transaction settings. This identifies the business’s preferred option. [1] Choose the destination your team can maintain and explain to customers; then inspect how it appears publicly.
Test the journey without creating a booking
Our suggested check: open the public link on a phone and a computer, choose the intended service and location, and follow the steps up to the final confirmation. Do not submit a test reservation or enter someone else’s personal details. Note any confusing labels, missing information or unexpected redirects.
Ask a colleague unfamiliar with the setup to repeat the check. Can they tell which branch they are booking and what happens next? Record the URL tested, device, date, issue and responsible person. This is an internal quality check, not a Google requirement.
Review unexpected provider links
Some third-party links can appear automatically. Google describes a Remove Provider option in booking settings for unwanted third-party booking links. [1] First identify the actual provider and destination so your team addresses the right listing.
Keep a dated record of the link and any removal request. Recheck the public profile afterwards; do not assume that selecting a preferred link removed the other options.
Recheck after changes
Repeat this review after changing booking software, moving a branch or updating a website. Google may remove links that fail its policies or cannot be accessed by its verification systems. [2] A successful manual visit is useful evidence about the customer journey, but does not prove crawler access or guarantee approval, bookings or rankings.
